Things to Know Before You Apply
*Applying does not automatically qualify you for Christmas help.
In order to serve our community equally and fairly, we break up the communities into three different areas. Area one: Daytona Beach, South Dayton, Holly Hill and Ormond Beach. Area two: Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oakhill and Samsula. Area three: Deltona, Deland, and Lake Helen. We take 30 from each area. Once we have reached capacity in your area, we will post that on the website. Please do not apply if your area is closed. We accept 90 children, thirty from each area.
Please read before you apply
- Our pick up location for gifts is located at Kilman Dental, 161 Colony Park Rd, New Smyrna Beach, FL. Make sure you have a way to pick up the gifts from this location prior to applying.
- Every child needs to fill out a separate application
- Please tell us on the form provided a little about your situation and why you are asking for assistance.
- We as an organization try to help as many children as possible. In order to accomplish this goal, we can not help the same children year after year. The Claus family was designed to help a family through a difficult year so they can get back on their feet for Christmas the following year. If you still need help, we can put you into a Lottery system. If we get enough sponsor, we will draw from that pool but there is no guarantee that your child will receive help.
- Apply only if your child is between the ages of 0-14 years old.
- There is a limit of $100 per child or $400 per household, whichever is less. Exceeding this amount can get your application disqualified for Christmas help. For example if you have 10 children and the max amount of money per family is 400 that would be 400/10=40 dollars per child. You would put one 40 dollar item on each childs’ list.
- We do not provide electronic devices, gaming console, cell phones, tablets, easy bake ovens or gift cards.
- To be accepted depends on the following four things:
1. The situation that you are going through at the time of filling out the application. Putting I’m having a hard time with bills, even though this could be true, we are looking for more of a personal insight into your struggles.
2. you need to put the exact item in the space provided and the accurate price next to it. Please look up the item online to get the price. Remember you can not exceed 100 dollars for all four gifts combined for each child. Also be very accurate with your sizes especially shoe sizes.
3. Placing an item on your list that is not on our approved list. etc. electronics, gift cards, easy bake ovens to name a few.
4. If the total of all the gifts exceeds the amount allowed (the 100 per child or the 400 per family). If you have a large family please be mindful of the 400 limit for all gifts. Example if you have 10 kids 400/10=40 so you should enter one toy per child with a 40 dollar limit.
Any one of these things can get your application denied.
- Pick up for gifts take place from December 10th – December 20th. We will text or email you when you may pick up the gifts for your child. Pick up location is at 161 Colony Park Rd., New Smyrna Beach. Make sure you have a vehicle that can pick up the toys that you requested from this location.
- We do flag some applications where the parent is not sure of what their child wants, extremely large families and parents asking for the same thing on all the children’s applications. In some of these situations we have found fraud.
- Our sponsors work very hard and make sacrifices so your child can have a Christmas. That is why the gifts are wrapped so you can put the gifts directly under the tree on Christmas eve. Please do not take advantage of our sponsor’s great generosity when you apply.
* Due to shipping, toy demands and items being sold out you might not get everything on your list.
* We do get toys donated by our generous supporters that might be given to your child in substitution of one of the gifts requested but we do try to accommodate the child.
May the Lord bless you and your family during this holiday season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. If you need to communicate with The Claus Family, please email us at theclausfamily1225@gmail.com
